New York Marathon Preview and Where to Watch
Geoffrey Kamworor and Abdi Nageeye form a powerful two-pronged NN Running Team challenge at the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday 3 November.
Kamworor boasts an outstanding race record in the Big Apple having claimed victory on the streets of New York in 2017 and 2019 besides placing second in 2015 and third in 2018.
Should the 31-year-old Kenyan deliver another race win he will become only the third man in history to claim three New York City Marathon victories.
A three-time world half marathon champion and two-time world cross country champion, Kamworor has consistently delivered on the biggest stage. Making his marathon debut way back in 2012, Kamworor set his personal best of 2:04:23 when second in the 2023 TCS London Marathon and will once again feature as a major challenger in New York.
Further bolstering the NN Running Team challenge is Abdi Nageeye who also boasts a proud record in the TCS New York Marathon. Placing fifth on his race debut in 2021, the Dutch athlete backed this up the following year with a third place finish. Last year, the 35-year-old maintained his consistent New York City Marathon record when finishing fourth and is well-positioned to contend once again.
Earlier this year, Nageeye set a national record of 2:04:45 with his victory at the NN Rotterdam Marathon. As the Tokyo 2020 Olympic marathon silver medallist, he is expected to pose a strong threat for a podium finish.
