Yalemzerf Yehualaw will lead the NN Running Team assault at the 2024 TCS Amsterdam Marathon seeking a course record time in the women’s elite race.

The 25-year-old Ethiopian athlete enjoyed a stellar 2022 winning the Hamburg Marathon on her debut over the 42.2km distance in a then national record mark of 2:17:23 before later that year clinching victory in the TCS London Marathon.

Yehualaw remains an outstanding performer and paced by NN Running Team duo - Abel Sikowo of Uganda and Dutch athlete Björn Koreman - she will seek to lower the course record of 2:17:20 currently held by NN Running Team teammate and countrywoman Almaz Ayana.

Making her marathon debut nine years ago experienced Kenyan Selly Chepyego will also be seeking a strong showing. The 39-year-old Kenyan set her PB of 2:20:03 when second at the 2023 Barcelona Marathon and further confirmed her excellent shape when third at the NN Rotterdam Marathon earlier this year, clocking 2:22:46.

Also looking to make their mark in the women’s elite race will be Desi Jisa of Bahrain, who set her lifetime best of 2:20:47 when second in the 2023 Doha Marathon. Recording a highly-respectable 2:22:19 when second in the Seoul Marathon earlier his year the 27-year-old will look for a prominent showing in the Dutch capital.

Bolstering the NN Running Team challenge is Aminet Ahmed of Ethiopia, who finished fifth in the Hamburg Marathon in April, clocking 2:23:27. Look out too for Lonah Salpeter who's just coming back from a ninth place at the Olympic Marathon in Paris, and Haven Hailu of Ethiopia who's consecutively won the NN Rotterdam Marathon in 2022 and the Women's Osaka Marathon in 2023.

The men’s elite race, which will see NN Running Team athlete Richard Douma act as pacemaker for the lead group, features experienced marathoner Maru Teferi and debutant Erick Sang. Sang, a sub-60-minute half marathoner at his best, claimed victory in 1:01:51 in the Klagenfurt Half Marathon in Austria earlier this year.
